Manatee High School
Hi everyone! My name is Madison Burt, and I am a senior at Manatee High School. I am very involved in Key Club and serve as the Division 17 Lieutenant Governor on the Florida District Board. I am involved in various academic Honor Societies as well as different science competitions. I have also done dance for the past 15 years and love it! One of my favorite parts of JLM last year was building relationships with different community organizations that we visited. As a Student Board Member, I am excited to share my experiences with you and meet you all soon!
State College of Florida Collegiate School
Hello everyone, my name is Prudny Bonnaire Fils and I am entering my senior year at the State College of Florida Collegiate School. At my school, I am involved in our Key Club, National Honor Society, and Student Leadership Team, which helps plan student events. What I liked the most about Junior Leadership Manatee last year was being able to be exposed to different sectors in Manatee County and get an in-depth look at how they contribute to our community. It was very interesting to be exposed to such diverse organizations and careers. I am excited to be able assist in organizing these program days for the new JLM class.
St. Stephen's Episcopal School
Hello future JLMers! My name is Annie Class, and I am a senior at Saint Stephen's. In school, I am the President of the National Honor Society and the Spanish National Honor Society and Editor-in-Chief of a linguistic magazine. Outside of school, I routinely intern with the non-profit, Outreach360, and serve as the Parliamentarian of the National Junior Classical League (NJCL). JLM has been a crucial part of my understanding of leadership and has encouraged me to become more involved in my community through the various programs I am involved in!
State College of Florida Collegiate School
Hello, my name is Zachery Hovatter, and I am a senior at State College of Florida Collegiate School. I find enjoyment in learning, so I spend much of my time doing schoolwork. However, I am as much devoted to athletics as I am to school. I spend around 20 hours per week practicing gymnastics, a sport which I greatly enjoy.
"Junior Leadership Manatee was a great opportunity, as it taught me many things about the numerous sectors of business, government, and culture that exist within our county. I also learned much about the importance of leadership within such a complex system. I have to say Media day was my favorite JLM program day, because getting a front row seat to watch the morning news from inside the studio was an experience unlike any other.
"Being a student board member with JLM means a lot to me, as it allows me to help ensure that the juniors participating in JLM this year can receive an experience just as valuable as mine."
Booker High School
Hello. I am in the Booker High School
VPA Dance and AICE program student who enjoys painting, dancing, baking, going to the beach and hanging out with friends. For college, I'm looking at FSU, University of Michigan, Tulane and Elon where she plans to to double major in dance and either dental hygiene, business or education. I loved being a part of JLM last year, my favorite day was Agriculture and Land Use day. I loved seeing the cows at Dakin Dairy. I am so excited to be a senior board member this year. I am really passionate about my community and helping others learn about our beautiful home. Leadership is a really important skill to develop, and JLM has taught me to a lot about how to become a strong leader.
Palmetto High School
I'm a senior at
Palmetto High School. My hobbies include dance, cheer and spending time with her youth group whenever possible. One of the greatest opportunities Palmetto High has given me is the ability to earn my AICE diploma which will give me a Bright Futures Scholarship to the University of Florida where I hope to attend. My favorite part about being in the Junior Leadership Manatee program last year was the relationships I formed with my fellow peers. I am a social person and thoroughly enjoyed getting to know students from other schools!
Saint Stephen's Episcopal School
Hello! I’m involved in my school’s Academic Team, Stock Market Club, and Hamilton Jefferson Society, being the Vice President of Stock Market Club and an Executive Board Member of Hamilton Jefferson. In my free time I play sports and video games. JLM has furthered my interest in business.
To be a student JLM board member is to have the opportunity to work with the leaders at the core of the program and the county. You will attend meetings throughout the year, facilitate Orientation and Program days, and take on your own individual goals. Maybe you want to help with social media posts; Maybe you want to learn how to design websites; Maybe you just have a really good idea for our juniors. Whatever the case, you will find a group of intelligent, kind, encouraging individuals who will guide you throughout your term. If you are a 2020-21 who would like to be considered for the student board, please submit an email to firstname.lastname@example.org by Saturday, April 10, and state in 500 words or less why you'd like to be considered and what value you would add to next year's board.
